Today’s video is going to be a bit lengthy because it’s a juicy topic; we’re talking about Surface Imperfections. This was requested by one of our community members on Youtube.
What are Surface Imperfections you say?
Well, they’re specs of dirt, scratches, scuffs, smears, and prints that we may never notice on real life surfaces while going about with our lives. Yet they exist.
These little imperfections that we barely notice are the reason why renders look off or odd; simply unrealistic.
Of course to add in surface imperfections, you’ll need maps or texture images made specifically for that purpose.
These texture images work hand in hand with a material’s texture to give you the look and feel of a real life object that has been handled or used by someone at some point in time.
